NHSFR World Champion Tie-Down Roper Kyan Wilhite Joins Kimes Ranch Endorsee Team

Kimes Ranch is proud to announce Kyan Wilhite as the newest addition to their western athlete roster. The 17-year-old from Clovis, NM, has proven to be a strong competitor in the rodeo industry with several big wins under his belt already in his young career.  After an impressive performance at the 75th National High School Finals Rodeo this past July, Wilhite earned the World Champion title in tie-down roping and cemented his place as one of the top young rodeo athletes in the country. “Grateful, humbled, and blessed are the words that I feel like describe it best. Definitely a ‘bucket list’ goal to accomplish, and I will cherish that memory for the rest of my life,” Wilhite said about his prestigious title.

The Chamber and City of Clovis recognized the first-generation rodeo athlete, making August 24th “Kyan Wilhite Day” to honor his outstanding achievements in the rodeo arena. When asked about how he felt about this honor, he replied with, “To be supported by my hometown in this way meant the world to me.”

Wilhite’s favorite part of rodeo is getting to travel and hangout with his friends, but specifically, the adrenaline and challenges that tie-down roping present him. When he is not chasing rodeos, he enjoys hunting, snowboarding, and playing guitar. Being a junior in high school, the young athlete is looking forward to his rodeo future in pro rodeo. He plans to obtain his permit and hit the rodeo trail. When asked about his goals, Wilhite explained, “My main goal, like any other professional athlete is to qualify for the NFR.”

The Kimes Ranch endorsee team represents many facets of the western industry with athletes spanning across many disciplines including performance horse events, youth and student competitors, and all areas of professional rodeo.  Wilhite shared his excitement in joining the Kimes Ranch Family, “I am really excited about this opportunity. I truly feel like the Kimes Ranch team is passionate about rodeo and supporting the western industry. I’m honored that Kimes Ranch is willing to take a chance on me.”

Kimes Ranch looks forward to a bright future for Kyan Wilhite and is thrilled to be welcoming such an incredible athlete onto the team.
