Do Rodeo Cowboys and Cowgirls really listen to Country Music down the rodeo trail

I was scrolling through my news feed on Twitter this week, and came across a post that rodeo life probs posted. It goes a little something like this..

Lol @ people who think we only listen to country music

I always get a chuckle when I'm on a rodeo board committee, and the board mentions that rodeo contestants only listen to country music. Yes, some still do.. But, the majority not even close.

I was talking to one of my Kimes Ranch Jeans team members Mike Solberg the other night and we were tossing back and fourth EDM songs to listen to down the rodeo trail. Crazy, right? For those of you that don't know what EDM stands for it stands for Electronic Dance Music. EDM music is pretty popular down the rodeo and bull riding trail. Artists such as Skrillex, Cake, and Calvin Harris just to name a few.

Here's a track that's pretty popular down the rodeo trail right now.

Caked Up - Bang Your Head Ft. Mikey Cross

Not to mention, during the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas one of there biggest turnouts is when the DJ comes out after the live bands are done playing. I had the opportunity to attend it at the Gold Buckle Zone held at the MGM in Las Vegas and I'd definitely have to say the vibe and atmosphere was amazing!! There were so many people at the event that you couldn't even move it was THAT crowded.

I wish that more rodeo and bull riding committees attended the MGM gold buckle zone after the LIVE bands played to see what the rodeo contestants are listening to. I think maybe then they'll take that risk of inviting an EDM artist to perform at there event. I see already that a couple huge events in Texas are stepping out of there comfort zone with artists like Kid Rock, Pit Bull, Ariana Granda just to name a few.

What's your opinion? Do you think rodeo contestants still listen to country music today or do you think rodeo contestants are listening to other genres? Feel free to leave your opinions in the comments below. I would love to hear your opinions.
That's a wrap for this weeks blog post.
