The business side of Rodeo

Some may call me a full blooded gypsy, some even call me a dream chaser. The whole summer of 2015 was spent in a variety of different places, and with a different crowd of rodeo fans and rodeo family. I had the opportunity to cover several different rodeos in Texas, Canada, Colorado, Montana, Oregon, New York, and so on..


What a lot of people don't understand about the rodeo industry is that you have to work twice as hard to stand out, and achieve success. The amount and time you put into promoting a rodeo is the biggest problem a lot of rodeo associations // Arenas don't understand. Every rodeo I cover and every bull riding I cover I always ask what their social media pages are. You would be SO surprised that a lot of rodeos and bull ridings today still don't use social media to market their event. How do Rodeo fans hear about the event than? By word of mouth?

Social Media, can take you to that next level. Social Media, helps you brand yourself. Sociak media helps you build a fan base. Keep in mind, that all social media outlets have a different targeted audience. Social Media may help you pick up your first big sponsor..


On the rodeo trail it's just you and that bull or horse. You didn't live a normal life to get where you are at today. Maybe you worked a part time job 2 - 3 days a week to pay an entry fee. Just remember - if you don't build your dreams, someone will hire you to do theirs.
